About Me

My photo
At the moment I am caring full time for a family member and when the time comes I will be selling up and living on a narrowboat.I enjoy reading, especially about those living on narrowboats and their daily lives. The tug Nb Resolute in the above picture is NOT mine but is owned by Dave Moore and is something I would aspire to own one day although I am going to look at many boats before I make a decision on the style and interior.Tugs are looking good at the moment but have yet to look around one. My interest in narrowboats started some 47 years ago. As a lad I cycled from Luton to bridge 111 on the G.U.by the Globe to fish and watch the Morton and Clayton boats go by,full of coal with a family on board and always wondered how they kept their balance on the planks that ran above the coal and why the the dogs didnt jump in the canal. That fascination has stayed with me so when I am able I will be there on my narrowboat joining in the great community of boat owners. Dog Clears up the Litter on his Walks

I thought I would share this with all the dog lovers who read my blog.It comes from the Daily Mirror.

Sheepdog Meg sniffs out litter in her local park and drops it in the bin every day.

The six-year-old collie is so efficient the park is often clear by the time council cleaners arrive.
Owner Ken Pople, 69, said: “There are times when she will drop her ball and run off to put a can in the bin. It’s a sight to see.” Meg even shamed a gang of youths into picking up their litter.

Ken explained: “There was a group of young lads and girls and one of them had lobbed a can into the grass.
Meg picked it up and dropped it in the nearest bin."
“The boy’s reaction was to say, ‘That was f*****g awesome.’ So I was able to say, "Perhaps that has taught you a lesson."
“Later they put their rubbish into a bag and the lad gave me a thumbs up sign as he put it in the bin.”
Meg tidies up at a park in Great Cornard, Suffolk, and community warden Andy Nunny hopes to use her for an anti-littering campaign. He said :-

“If a dog can be trained to put rubbish in the bin, surely people can learn to as well.”

We live in hope.
