At the moment I am caring full time for a family member and when the time comes I will be selling up and living on a narrowboat.I enjoy reading,especially about those living on narrowboats and their daily lives.The tug Nb Resolute in the above picture is NOT mine but is owned by Dave Moore and is something I would aspire to own one day although I am going to look at many boats before I make a decision on the style and interior.Tugs are looking good at the moment but have yet to look around one. My interest in narrowboats started some 47 years ago. As a lad I cycled from Luton to bridge 111 on the G.U.by the Globe to fish and watch the Morton and Clayton boats go by,full of coal with a family on board and always wondered how they kept their balance on the planks that ran above the coal and why the the dogs didnt jump in the canal.That fascination has stayed with me so when I am able I will be there on my narrowboat joining in the great community of boat owners. Walking the Dogs at Appledown Boarding Kennels and Rescue Centre

Today (Wednesday 25th January) I took time out to start my 4 hours off per week from caring to be a volunteer dog walker at Appledown Kennels and Rescue Centre in Eaton Bray. Donning my new wellington boots I arrived at the office to be greeted by one of the staff who got my first charge for the day. She is called Sparkle and has only known life in a kennel and desperately wants to find a caring and loving home to go to.

She walked easily on the lead and was a friendly little dog.

Next for a walk was Tina who again needs a nice home to go to.She enjoyed having a good sniff as we walked around the exercise field, a very nice dog.


Last on the list today is Violet a beautiful dog who has a new home to go to.She knows all the basic commands and rolled over for her tummy to be tickled.


I give each dog half an hour walk around the field till 13:00 which gives time for three dogs to get exercise before it is lunch time for the staff. I will post more pictures next week of the training ground when I get permission from the chief trainer.Watching her put two collie dogs through their paces she certainly knows her stuff.

    Dog to perform with his new buddies in his new house. There are various excellent and very wonderful bungalows in these Getting on crates are available for these pets to create then relaxed and to let them experience relaxed.

    I love dogs but travel too often to have one myself.

    We have a great front yard (gated) and the beach is just steps away, so a trip to the sand is almost certain.
