About Me

My photo
At the moment I am caring full time for a family member and when the time comes I will be selling up and living on a narrowboat.I enjoy reading, especially about those living on narrowboats and their daily lives. The tug Nb Resolute in the above picture is NOT mine but is owned by Dave Moore and is something I would aspire to own one day although I am going to look at many boats before I make a decision on the style and interior.Tugs are looking good at the moment but have yet to look around one. My interest in narrowboats started some 47 years ago. As a lad I cycled from Luton to bridge 111 on the G.U.by the Globe to fish and watch the Morton and Clayton boats go by,full of coal with a family on board and always wondered how they kept their balance on the planks that ran above the coal and why the the dogs didnt jump in the canal. That fascination has stayed with me so when I am able I will be there on my narrowboat joining in the great community of boat owners. Lurcher / Saluki Sighthound Cross at Rescue Centre

This week I took two dogs for a walk at http://www.appledown.co.uk/ . Two lovely dogs who are looking for a forever home. The first was….

                                                               Gulliver

Dogs 060213 004

Full of life and ready to play anytime. He needs to put on a bit of weight but with a lot of love and care should do well in a new home.

The second dog was…

Fillius

Dogs 060213 032

He was timid at first but soon relaxed after a couple of circuits of the field. After my photo was seen on the rescue centres facebook page…..

someone is interested in re-homing him which is great news.

It was very cold this week with a northerly wind blowing so I didn’t want to keep them out of the kennels too long and I didn’t want frostbite in my fingers.

Last week I went over to Marsworth to look at the narrowboats but nothing presented itself for a photo opportunity but I took this of a widebeam out of interest as the top was rusty which I should think is being made ready for a re-paint.

  1. Hi Dave

Have you seen Dave Moores post on canal world forum, looks as though there may be a share on Resolute, if you are interested!

  2. Lovely photos, think I read somewhere that you have an interest in photography - well it shows, and these two dogs are a prime example of what good photos you take :)

    1. Hi Alyson,
Thanks for the kind remarks. I think they would be a lot better if I used my bigger camera and not hanging on for dear life to their leads trying to take their pictures from 3 feet :)
