About Me

My photo
At the moment I am caring full time for a family member and when the time comes I will be selling up and living on a narrowboat.I enjoy reading, especially about those living on narrowboats and their daily lives. The tug Nb Resolute in the above picture is NOT mine but is owned by Dave Moore and is something I would aspire to own one day although I am going to look at many boats before I make a decision on the style and interior.Tugs are looking good at the moment but have yet to look around one. My interest in narrowboats started some 47 years ago. As a lad I cycled from Luton to bridge 111 on the G.U.by the Globe to fish and watch the Morton and Clayton boats go by,full of coal with a family on board and always wondered how they kept their balance on the planks that ran above the coal and why the the dogs didnt jump in the canal. That fascination has stayed with me so when I am able I will be there on my narrowboat joining in the great community of boat owners. Narrowboat Visit

I had the pleasure of visiting Bottle and Wozie's narrowboat Oakfield today and had a good old chinwag about their travels over the past year.Thank you for the boat cake and the Inland Narrowboat Owners book, that was a lovely supprise. No I didn't wear my new boots as I knew the towpath was in good condition along that part of the canal. As you can see I would have trouble steering but at least I have been aboard and seen what a nice boat it is.One day I will have my own but I am sure it will be a red Tug with a green roof, and I will have a traders license.Yes I have plans for the future as life is too short to worry.See you both again sometime and have a safe winter.

  1. Hello Dave,
I've tended to steer clear of SAGA. It all sounds a bit too commercial these days. I insure my car with RIAS, can't remember what it stands for?
I think the R is for retirement.
However, they have seemed quite reasonable to me.
I have to limit my mileage to 5000 a year, which is quite easy. Having said that.....I have no idea what they are going to rip me off this year?!?!
I put this here...as I have no idea what twitter is all about?
